Roy Barker II (Wick Lifeboat)

RNLI Roy Barker II (Wick Lifeboat)

RNLI Roy Barker II (Wick Lifeboat) is unsurprisingly named after a fellow named Roy Barker. Roy Barker made his fortune from farming, but was also a keen seafarer and a long-standing supporter of the RNLI.  When he died, aged 82, he provided the RNLI with the largest single donation they had ever received – a staggering £6.5m!

If you’re wondering about Roy Barker I and Roy Barker III, they are on station at Alderney in the Channel Islands and in Howth, Ireland.

Seeing the Roy Barker II leaving Wick Harbour on their training nights has provided me with more than one opportunistic shot of this fabulous boat and it’s amazing volunteer crew.
